Outdoor Adventures Are Fun and Interesting Ways to Earn Girl Scout Badges

Girl Scout badges are among the highest accomplishments Girl Scouts can get, as they are marks of the values and practical skills they've learned and the community service they've done. Having a badge pinned on their uniforms is a source of great pride for scouts and their parents. With the goal of imparting important values and lessons to female youths, the Girl Scouts of the United States of America trains girls to be honest, courageous, compassionate and confident, among others. This is achieved by having the girls participate in various activities and learn new skills.

There are many ways for scouts to accomplish all these and earn their badges. Among the most interesting activities for scouts are exploring the outdoors and experiencing the beauty and wonders of Mother Nature. In the interest of forwarding the ideals of the Girl Scouts, certain organizations offer programs to help girls earn their Girl Scout badges. One type of program is taking part in adventure sports. This can involve kayaking amid beautiful scenery, surfing to catch the perfect wave, or going through a beach obstacle course. Adventure sports are great for getting exercise, bonding with fellow scouts and learning the values of teamwork and sisterhood.

Another type of program is bird watching. Scouts can learn how to identify species of birds based on their behavior or field markings. They can observe how these birds spend their days, how they communicate, how they take care of their young and what kinds of food they eat. It's a great way learn about wildlife and commune with nature.
