Outdoor Bench - Preplanning Your Spring Planting
By Jennifer Akre - Ezinearticles

Believe it or not spring is not that far away. Sure, looking outside at the dreary winter weather that's hanging on right now may make this seem unbelievable. But as we all know, before long, spring will be here in full force. So, what are you doing to prepare now? You aren't waiting for spring to arrive to start planning for it, are you? For some reason, a lot of people think you can't do much to prepare for spring until the season actually arrives. But, by then, wouldn't you prefer to be out enjoying the spring weather instead of just planning for it? Well, if you want to be able to do that, you need to start planning now.

One of the first things you're going to need to put on your spring furniture shopping list is an outdoor bench. After all, if you're doing lots of gardening you're going to need a place to sit as you work with all of those plants.

So just what do you know about benches? When most people think of benches all they may imagine are those wooden things you sit on when you go to the park. But the world of benches has become much more vast over the years.

Size

One of the first things you're going to have to look at is the size of the outdoor bench that you need for the space you're working in. Benches come in all sorts of sizes. Some benches are small enough just to seat one person comfortably. Others can comfortably hold three or four people. You need to consider how many people will usually be sitting on these benches as well as how much space you have in the garden before picking the right size

Material

Next you need to put some thought into what material you want your benches to be made of. Part of this decision will probably have something to do with the décor you have in place in your yard already. You want to have outdoor benches that at least match this style.

The next consideration you may want to take when choosing material is the weather conditions where you live and where the benches will be sitting. For example if you are in a climate that gets relatively hot, a lot of sunshine, and your benches are going to be exposed to the sun, you may not want to use metal benches. The metal can absorb a lot of that heat and burn your skin when you go to sit down. Meanwhile, if you're in an area where it freezes a lot, you may know that wood is susceptible to cold weather and is more likely to crack and split than other materials. So, you may want to look for something other than that in this case.

While part of the process of choosing an outdoor bench is the fun of getting something you enjoy the look of, make sure you put a little more thought into the selection process so you get benches better suited to you, your garden space, and your climate.
